A festival in the heart of Battambang
The S'Art Urban Art Festival is a biennial event that transforms the streets of Battambang into a veritable open-air gallery, celebrating the richness and diversity of urban art in Cambodia. Organised by Phare Ponleu Selpak in collaboration with partners such as Murals for Cambodia and the Giant Puppet Project, the festival showcases Battambang as a centre for Khmer art and culture.
The 2023 edition marked the festival's return after a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Attracting more than 7,700 participants from across Cambodia and Southeast Asia, the event offered numerous activities, workshops and conferences led by international artists and experts, accessible to all.
Between tradition and modernity
Visitors were able to admire murals all over the city, watch hip-hop shows, and enjoy many other art forms. The festival ended with a big artistic parade in the old town of Battambang, featuring giant puppets made by participants, followed by a concert bringing together Cambodian musicians such as Vanthan, a former Phare student who is now a national star.
By blending ancestral traditions and contemporary expressions, the festival offers a unique opportunity for local and international artists, while enriching the city's cultural heritage.
See you in 2025!
The next edition of the S'Art Urban Art Festival is scheduled for 3–8 November 2025. Urban art enthusiasts are invited to join this celebration of creativity and artistic innovation in the heart of Cambodia.
